  EXPLORATION
Agere has built up a sound employee base and network of expertise
to manage the exploration programme professionally, efficiently and
to the optimum standard. All exploration programmes undertaken
by Agere follow the strictest statutory requirements to ensure
compliant geological modelling and Mineral Resource estimation for
bankable feasibility studies. Agere can therefore undertake the
entire exploration programme from data collection and compilation
through to target generation and finally to the drilling programme.
Else, Agere can commence involvement in certain stages of the
exploration process.

The services we offer are as follows:
  • GIS - Data compilation
  • Project valuation
  • Exploration target generation
  • Exploration method identification
  • Geophysics mapping
  • Drilling and exploration programme design and management
  • Core logging and sampling
  • Auditing, compliance evaluation and sign off on QA/QC processes and procedures
  • On shaft exploration projects
  • Operational audits - Mineral Resource management systems
  • Compilation of prospecting Works Progammes for DMR submission
As an additional service Agere offers Mineral Resource Management
(MRM) audits. A gap analysis can be undertaken to determine if
there are any short comings in systems used in Mineral Resource
Departments at operations. A gap analysis will typically investigate
issues such as:
  • Database management systems
  • Information flow - chain of custody
  • Ore flow
  • Short interval control (SIC) systems
  • Planning systems - monthly and strategic
  • Mineral Resource systems
  • Opening up systems
  • Department standards and procedures

Services to assist operational projects ranging from data capture to project valuation are also offered .  Recently Agere has become more  involved with on shaft projects to investigate the potential of re-opening areas to constructing geological models and supplying geological resources to understaffed departments. The exploration process is
aimed at adding value to a project, as illustrated by the curve in the figure. All data collection carried out by Agere is carried out under strict QA/QC processes such that the data can be used in a compliant feasibility study.

In addition, the exploration process should pass through a control
chain to manage value added spending. If the results of new data are
negative and the project appears uneconomical, then the exploration process either ceases or shifts focus. At Agere we use a gated system to evaluate whether exploration at a particular point is viable before unnecessary cost is incurred on the next phase, thus enabling optimal budget expenditure.

Agere employs partners and associates to increase skill levels in
specialised fields such as GIS, geochemistry and geophysics. This enables Agere to supply a service from greenfields exploration all the way to the final pour.
Additional skills are sourced from Minxcon with respect to Mineral Resource valuation and geostatistical valuations to assist with geological models. This is done in order to improve the exploration target generation. This relationship ensures that the data collected is compliant for Mineral Resource modelling and therefore to standard for feasibility studies. Mining methodology can influence the exploration strategy and hence these skills are sourced to aid in exploration strategies.

With a broad base of in-house skills, combined with specialised
knowledge offered by our partners and associates, Agere has the
ability to mitigate risks and thereby reduce the costs of exploration
to the client.
